We all have the
desire to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, not only to have a
purpose in life but to feel useful. When
we do not feel like we are contributing or we make mistakes, we often feel like
we are not doing a good job. Sometimes,
we even feel useless and drag ourselves down.
The fact of the matter is that nobody is useless. We all have something which makes us useful
and unique in some way. The problem is
we often have difficulty finding out what we are good at because we focus on
what we struggle with, whether it be at work, school, or at home. To realize how useful we are, we
need to learn more about ourselves, what we are good at, and use these
realizations to change a negative aspect of life. We also need to stop being so hard on
ourselves for making mistakes, especially small ones which have easy fixes.

🎶 Song of the Blog 🎶
Everybody walks a
different path and has their own unique set of skills, personality traits, and
interests. Those who seek to see their
true worth must first accept that they have both strengths and weaknesses. There will be instances where we succeed and/or
fail. Sometimes, failure can seem much
more apparent. It is through these
failures which we learn more about ourselves, what we are good at and areas
where we can improve. Owning up to our
mistakes while promising ourselves to try harder is a much healthier option
than declaring inadequacy. Nobody is
useless for failing at something in which they consider a weakness or are
inexperienced.
It is also
important to remember that everybody makes mistakes, even those who are experienced. There will be instances where slip-ups are
inevitable, especially at work. Many
people make mistakes and immediately believe they are unintelligent,
inexperienced, or useless. We have all
felt that way before, but to get over it we have to see it for what it is a
common error. You are not useless for
having done what billions of others do daily. It does not mean we are worthless or unable
to do our job, it means we are human.
Most of the time, these major mistakes we stress over can be resolved
easily. Own up to it, work towards
fixing the problem, and learn from the situation to ensure it never happens
again.
Remember, we are
useful in some way, and if you feel useless in some parts of your life, analyze
the situation and come up with a few reasons on how to stop feeling that
way. It could be to improve on a
particular aspect of life or to let it go entirely. Regardless, it is important to never tell
yourself that you are useless because it is not true. Putting yourself down does nothing to resolve
the problem. The only outcome of
negative reinforcement is extending the time it takes to reach self-acceptance. With self-acceptance comes confidence, and
with confidence comes happiness.
