Why Eating & Drinking Is Important Throughout the Day

We all have busy schedules, and sometimes this interferes with our ability to eat and drink when necessary.  I personally have had instances where I will not drink any water all morning simply because I am busy with work.  Ironically, not taking care of yourself affects the quality of your work.  If you do not eat or drink, focus diminishes the mind wonders and exhaustion sets in quicker than usual.  Even after taking care of yourself, exhaustion will follow for the rest of the day because being hungry and thirsty takes its toll on the body.  As a result, you want to do nothing but lay down and be completely unproductive.  The cycle continues, and as it does your level of stress can increase as well as your level of exhaustion.  The point is, we should break the cycle of neglect, gorging, and sleeping in order to be more productive, feel better, and have more energy throughout the day.
When it comes to our professional lives, remembering to eat and drink will prevent us from losing focus.  Focus is essential in making sure the work we do is of high quality and meaningful.  Not only that, but it lessens the chances of making mistakes.  Neglecting to eat and drink nets the complete opposite effect, making it more difficult to focus and can cause mistakes to occur more frequently.  The more mistakes we make, the more stressful work becomes.  This can lead to damaging results as the threat of making mistakes can prevent us from leaving our desks and taking a break to take care of ourselves, worsening the situation.
Some may argue and say they do not have the time to get up, grab something to eat or drink, and go back to work.  It is not the amount of time we have that prevents us from taking care of ourselves but our own mentality.  The fact of the matter is, there is always time to spare when it comes to personal well-being.  It does not take long to grab a cup of water or a bite to eat, five to ten minutes at most.  The amount of time spent to obtain and consume are well worth the benefits.  Why would anyone trade energy and focus throughout the day for a few extra minutes?  Unfortunately, it seems like many people share that way of thinking.  Hopefully, this blog will remind you of the importance to take some time to take care of yourself during the workday.
Personally, the extra energy gained from eating and drinking will allow you to be more productive outside of work.  Instead of going straight hope and doing nothing you can do something worth your time; chores, personal projects, exercise, etc.  No matter what, this energy needs to be expelled in some way, and the best way to use it is by doing things you have been putting off for a while.  So, eating and drinking will allow you to be more productive as well as lower your levels of exhaustion, especially after working all day.  It is best to keep this in mind as it is an essential step of leaving the rut of a routine most people follow.

The Importance of Giving PT.2 - the Dos and Don'Ts

Should we expect to be praised for our deeds or to receive nothing in return?  Does ego play a role in generosity or is humbleness a necessary mindset?  A year ago, we talked about the importance of giving and how beneficial it is to both the giver and the receiver (Link here if interested:  https://scanlonblogs.blogspot.com/2018/11/blog-8-giving.html ).  We also talked about how happiness comes from giving and helping others and how material wealth only goes so far.  What we did not discuss is what we should anticipate and the proper way to behave throughout the process.  The art of giving involves understanding the dos and don'ts based on the situation at hand.  Not every instance of generosity will include the same factors as the previous one.      Do you believe kindness should be met with a reward?  I personally believe it depends on the situation, but we should never expect to be rewarded.  If you give money to a homeless man, your act of kindness may not lead to anyt

Three Life-Long Lessons to Remember #2

Do you need a reminder of what is important in life?  How about the proper way to handle a situation when feeling angry or stressed?  If so, you have come to the right place.  If you know these bits of information already, just remember its important to be reminded every now and again.  So, without further adieu, here are three life-long lessons to remember #2. 1. Money Isn’t Everything      Wouldn’t it be nice if tomorrow, you won the lottery?   The sheer joy you’d feel would probably be something you’ve never experienced before.   What would you do with the money: buy a house, go on an exotic vacation, quit your job?   When this type of pleasure flows over you, the possibilities feel endless.   No matter what you do, being financially free would make you happy, at least for a while.   Eventually, you would want something more than just financial freedom.   Having money is great, but what are you going to do with your money and newly acquired spare time?      We need

How Fate and Personality Intertwine

We are born with a unique personality which is then shaped by the environment we grow up in, but how does this play a role in what we call fate?  Our personalities determine our likes, dislikes, thoughts, opinions, and the choices we make throughout our lives.  We consider fate to be events beyond our control.  We often believe what transpires from these events is supposed to happen without our knowledge and are determined by the universe.  However, I believe our unique personalities intertwine with fate.  Our personalities shape us into who we are and determine how we handle life events.  Fate, in my opinion, is the initial event that we cannot control.  What happens afterward is determined by our personality and the paths we choose to walk.      What if a nuclear apocalypse decimated the world today and you were one of the survivors?  How would you deal with the aftermath, and would you consider these choices fate?  Based on my view, the event itself, the dropping of the bo
