5 Things to Do This Spring

Spring is here, and it is time to get out there and get things done!  However, where do we begin, and what should we do?  I can answer that for you.  Here are 5 actions to take this spring.

1. Summer Shopping
Spring means warmth, and because of this, people begin to wear summer clothing, leaving their sweatshirts and jackets behind.  Unfortunately, it has been a while since you have worn your summer clothes.  You may have grown out of them, your style is different, or they no longer fit you appropriately.  Therefore, it may be time to do some summer shopping.  Luckily, clothing stores begin to sell summer apparel; shorts, dresses, bathing suits, etc. shortly after spring begins.  Many of these clothing stores have deals advertising their new merchandise, meaning the sooner you start shopping, the more you will save.  Not only that, but because most people are lazy, there will not be as many shopping in the beginning, which means you will be able to get your shopping done before the crowd arrives.  It is a win-win, and you will thank yourself later for getting it out of the way, especially when you are the first in your group to be summer stylish.

2. Spring Cleaning
The winter is cold and can make us lazy.  Putting these two factors together means very little work can get done during the winter months.  However, with spring comes hot weather, making us more active, cheerful, and productive.  This is why you should take the time to do some spring cleaning.  While the weather is hot, the sun is out, and you are feeling good, you can get the things you want to get done out of the way, leaving you to enjoy the spring and summer without worrying about the cleanliness of your house, car, etc.  Plus, you will also feel accomplished and productive after accomplishing your seasonal cleaning goals.

3. Exercise
It can be difficult to acquire the motivation to exercise when it is cold and dark outside.  Now that there is more sunlight, warmer weather, and a cheerful atmosphere, you can begin to accomplish those workout goals.  The best time to get into the habit is the beginning of spring because you still have time to burn the winter fat you may have gained.  After a couple of months, you will have already surpassed most people by getting fit before the summer has even started.  You can then continue your exercise throughout the summer, making it a habitual practice, so when winter returns, you will be less likely to stop.

4. Get Outside
There is less of a reason to remain inside when the weather gets warmer, and this usually happens when spring comes around.  Get outside and enjoy what the world has to offer.  We were not made to remain in one spot forever, so why would you limit yourself by remaining in the house once winter is over?  Now that the temperature is rising, seasonal stores are opening, there is more to do outside, and you can enjoy the world without having to put on layers of clothing.  You will feel happier, more alive, and feel like you are making the most out of life.

5. Assess Your Goals
Back in January, many people made New Year’s Resolutions.  However, not many people actually follow through with them for various reasons.  Springtime is a great time to check in and evaluate how well you have been doing on accomplishing your goals.  If you feel like you have not been progressing, take some time to reevaluate your strategies.  See what you can improve on, and use the warm weather and extra sunlight to increase motivation and work towards success.  Whether it be exercising more, starting a business, traveling, etc., the sooner you begin working towards success, the less of a chore it will seem to be in the future, especially when winter returns and energy is naturally lower.

The Importance of Giving PT.2 - the Dos and Don'Ts

Should we expect to be praised for our deeds or to receive nothing in return?  Does ego play a role in generosity or is humbleness a necessary mindset?  A year ago, we talked about the importance of giving and how beneficial it is to both the giver and the receiver (Link here if interested:  https://scanlonblogs.blogspot.com/2018/11/blog-8-giving.html ).  We also talked about how happiness comes from giving and helping others and how material wealth only goes so far.  What we did not discuss is what we should anticipate and the proper way to behave throughout the process.  The art of giving involves understanding the dos and don'ts based on the situation at hand.  Not every instance of generosity will include the same factors as the previous one.      Do you believe kindness should be met with a reward?  I personally believe it depends on the situation, but we should never expect to be rewarded.  If you give money to a homeless man, your act of kindness may not lead to anyt

Three Life-Long Lessons to Remember #2

Do you need a reminder of what is important in life?  How about the proper way to handle a situation when feeling angry or stressed?  If so, you have come to the right place.  If you know these bits of information already, just remember its important to be reminded every now and again.  So, without further adieu, here are three life-long lessons to remember #2. 1. Money Isn’t Everything      Wouldn’t it be nice if tomorrow, you won the lottery?   The sheer joy you’d feel would probably be something you’ve never experienced before.   What would you do with the money: buy a house, go on an exotic vacation, quit your job?   When this type of pleasure flows over you, the possibilities feel endless.   No matter what you do, being financially free would make you happy, at least for a while.   Eventually, you would want something more than just financial freedom.   Having money is great, but what are you going to do with your money and newly acquired spare time?      We need

The Meaning of Thanksgiving - a Few Words to Remember

Tonight's blog will be shorter than usual due to Thanksgiving, but I still wanted to leave you guys with a few things to remember.  Thanksgiving, or any holiday for that matter, is about family, friends, and making memories, wouldn't you agree?  Personally, I love being able to see my extended family, even if it's for a short while.  The holiday season is, to some, the only time they are able to get together with family and enjoy their company.  Sometimes we need to be reminded of this, so we remember to enjoy the time spent together.  Even if you do not get along with some of your family members, times like these are perfect for making amends if possible.  Do you have any memories like this?  If so, I would love to hear them in the comments.  Overall, remember that Thanksgiving is more than just about eating but sharing a moment with those you love.  Happy Thanksgiving everybody and I hope your day is filled with food, family, and memories. 📖  Be sure to add S
