3 Reasons to Incorporate Alone Time

Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, incorporating alone time into your schedule can be beneficial.  Everyone needs time to themselves, whether it be to recharge from a long day or to focus on themselves.  It can be freeing, relaxing, and therapeutic.  So, here are three reasons to incorporate alone time.

1. Recharge Your Batteries
It is always a good idea to have some alone time to recharge your batteries.  Socializing, whether it be on the phone, talking to people face to face, or going out can be exhausting.  When we socialize, we are not always thinking of what is in our best interest but the group.  This can be physically and mentally tiring, especially when we are placed in situations we are not comfortable in.  When you finally decide to have some alone time, you are able to do whatever you want without the approval of others.  This is both freeing and relaxing, having nobody to think about except yourself.  By doing so, you not only recover from past experiences, but you also recharge to take on the future.

2. Work on Personal Goals
Sometimes, it is difficult to work towards our achievements when surrounded by others.  When we socialize, we are not always able to concentrate on what we want to accomplish.  Rather, we are more focused on the people and/or what is going around us.  When we are alone, outside distractions are less of a bother, allowing us to focus on tasks we want or need to get done.  Retaining information becomes much easier when in quiet environments, and you become much more involved in your work.  Not only that, but the quality of your work may also increase, as, with increased focus, you are thinking of working towards one goal rather than thinking about what is happening around you.  This, in turn, will allow you to accomplish goals in a much faster time frame.  So, turn off your phone, find a quiet place to think, and work towards your own personal success.

3. Be Yourself
Although everyone should do their best to be themselves generally, some people have difficulty when in social situations.  Plus, it is not always viable, such as in a professional setting, to be your weird and crazy self.  Being alone allows you to drop your guard, be free, and act however you want to act.  There is nobody to judge, laugh, or hate you when alone.  This gives you the opportunity to have some fun alone; jump around, make weird noises, and do whatever you want to do without being judged by the outside world.  It is a great feeling to not have to worry about another person's opinion, and it is why I believe alone time is important for a person's mental state.

The Importance of Giving PT.2 - the Dos and Don'Ts

Should we expect to be praised for our deeds or to receive nothing in return?  Does ego play a role in generosity or is humbleness a necessary mindset?  A year ago, we talked about the importance of giving and how beneficial it is to both the giver and the receiver (Link here if interested:  https://scanlonblogs.blogspot.com/2018/11/blog-8-giving.html ).  We also talked about how happiness comes from giving and helping others and how material wealth only goes so far.  What we did not discuss is what we should anticipate and the proper way to behave throughout the process.  The art of giving involves understanding the dos and don'ts based on the situation at hand.  Not every instance of generosity will include the same factors as the previous one.      Do you believe kindness should be met with a reward?  I personally believe it depends on the situation, but we should never expect to be rewarded.  If you give money to a homeless man, your act of kindness may not lead to anyt

Three Life-Long Lessons to Remember #2

Do you need a reminder of what is important in life?  How about the proper way to handle a situation when feeling angry or stressed?  If so, you have come to the right place.  If you know these bits of information already, just remember its important to be reminded every now and again.  So, without further adieu, here are three life-long lessons to remember #2. 1. Money Isn’t Everything      Wouldn’t it be nice if tomorrow, you won the lottery?   The sheer joy you’d feel would probably be something you’ve never experienced before.   What would you do with the money: buy a house, go on an exotic vacation, quit your job?   When this type of pleasure flows over you, the possibilities feel endless.   No matter what you do, being financially free would make you happy, at least for a while.   Eventually, you would want something more than just financial freedom.   Having money is great, but what are you going to do with your money and newly acquired spare time?      We need

The Meaning of Thanksgiving - a Few Words to Remember

Tonight's blog will be shorter than usual due to Thanksgiving, but I still wanted to leave you guys with a few things to remember.  Thanksgiving, or any holiday for that matter, is about family, friends, and making memories, wouldn't you agree?  Personally, I love being able to see my extended family, even if it's for a short while.  The holiday season is, to some, the only time they are able to get together with family and enjoy their company.  Sometimes we need to be reminded of this, so we remember to enjoy the time spent together.  Even if you do not get along with some of your family members, times like these are perfect for making amends if possible.  Do you have any memories like this?  If so, I would love to hear them in the comments.  Overall, remember that Thanksgiving is more than just about eating but sharing a moment with those you love.  Happy Thanksgiving everybody and I hope your day is filled with food, family, and memories. 📖  Be sure to add S
