Five Reasons Exercise Is Beneficial to Your Health

Those who exercise understand how beneficial it is to one’s well-being.  Not only do you feel physically healthier, but mentally, you feel like a different person.  There are numerous benefits to exercise, and a person would be doing themselves a disservice to stand idle.  Try it out and see for yourself.  In the meantime, Here are five reasons why exercise is beneficial to one’s health.

1. Decreases the Frequency of Negative Thoughts
We all have negative thoughts and feelings from time to time.  During those times, many people tend to focus on the negatives rather than change their mindset.  Usually, this is because they have no outlet to distract themselves.  Exercise could be this distraction.  When exercising, it requires focus and energy.  Naturally, we focus on the task at hand rather than negative thoughts and feelings.  Therefore, exercise allows us to let go of the negative, at least for a little while.  The more a person does this, the easier it is to handle negativity, because it is easier to deal with problems when there is a method of distressing.  Therefore, it is a good idea to exercise frequently.  That way, you are able to focus your energy towards creating a plan, sticking to it, and working towards the different goals set for yourself rather than negativity.

2. Teaches Consistency
Many people struggle to be consistent.  It can be difficult to change habits, even when the change is beneficial.  People are used to their current ways.  Exercise is an effective way to make a habit out of consistency.  Exercise requires frequent physical activity, otherwise no benefits will come from it.  Nobody can exercise once a week and expect major results.  Therefore, exercise demands consistency in order to be useful.  Learning how to be consistent with exercise will help in learning to be consistent with other areas of life.  Whatever the case, once a person is able remain consistent in one area of life, such as exercising, consistency becomes more of a natural act.

3. Helps With Organization and Scheduling
Nobody can work out sporadically and expect results.  Those who are successful understand a schedule is needed.  Scheduling keeps the person organized.  With a schedule, a person knows when they are going to work out and for how long.  Without a schedule, there is no expectation, no consistency, only irregular behavior.  This can lower morale and lead to the person giving up.  Many people know this, which is why they create a schedule and stick to it.  They expect to work out at a certain time and a specific length.  So, exercise is a great way to make changes in life through scheduling.  An exercise routine can be a stepping stone into scheduling other parts of life, such as sleep and when to eat.  The more a person schedules, the less sporadic they become, which is beneficial to those looking to increase balance in their lives.

4. Raises Self-Confidence
Exercise may also help with depression through self-efficacy, the ability to achieve an intended result.  Many people do not believe in themselves, lack confidence, and as a result have low self-efficacy.  The reason why exercise helps increase self-efficacy is due to its nature.  Exercise requires a person to remain consistent in order to succeed.  For example, if a person wants to lose weight, they need to have an exercise routine and stick to it.  Self-efficacy is built by maintaining the schedule, working towards the goal, and remaining in control.  When the goal is reached, it can be a major confidence boost.  Confidence and positive thinking are common among those who work on themselves.

5. Increases Mental and Physical Health
The main reason people workout is to change themselves, both mentally and physically.  Physically, exercise helps a person lose weight and gain muscle.  Exercise may also prevent heart problems, increase immunity to different diseases, and increase a person’s quality of life through physical strength.  Mentally, a person has the ability to become more organized in their lives.  They will feel in control of their lives through exercise.  They are working towards a goal, inching closer and closer to the finish line.  Exercise also teaches consistency, which can improve many avenues of a person’s life.  Overall, people feel happier, more confident, and more secure with themselves after exercising.

The Importance of Giving PT.2 - the Dos and Don'Ts

Should we expect to be praised for our deeds or to receive nothing in return?  Does ego play a role in generosity or is humbleness a necessary mindset?  A year ago, we talked about the importance of giving and how beneficial it is to both the giver and the receiver (Link here if interested:  https://scanlonblogs.blogspot.com/2018/11/blog-8-giving.html ).  We also talked about how happiness comes from giving and helping others and how material wealth only goes so far.  What we did not discuss is what we should anticipate and the proper way to behave throughout the process.  The art of giving involves understanding the dos and don'ts based on the situation at hand.  Not every instance of generosity will include the same factors as the previous one.      Do you believe kindness should be met with a reward?  I personally believe it depends on the situation, but we should never expect to be rewarded.  If you give money to a homeless man, your act of kindness may not lead to anyt

Three Life-Long Lessons to Remember #2

Do you need a reminder of what is important in life?  How about the proper way to handle a situation when feeling angry or stressed?  If so, you have come to the right place.  If you know these bits of information already, just remember its important to be reminded every now and again.  So, without further adieu, here are three life-long lessons to remember #2. 1. Money Isn’t Everything      Wouldn’t it be nice if tomorrow, you won the lottery?   The sheer joy you’d feel would probably be something you’ve never experienced before.   What would you do with the money: buy a house, go on an exotic vacation, quit your job?   When this type of pleasure flows over you, the possibilities feel endless.   No matter what you do, being financially free would make you happy, at least for a while.   Eventually, you would want something more than just financial freedom.   Having money is great, but what are you going to do with your money and newly acquired spare time?      We need

The Meaning of Thanksgiving - a Few Words to Remember

Tonight's blog will be shorter than usual due to Thanksgiving, but I still wanted to leave you guys with a few things to remember.  Thanksgiving, or any holiday for that matter, is about family, friends, and making memories, wouldn't you agree?  Personally, I love being able to see my extended family, even if it's for a short while.  The holiday season is, to some, the only time they are able to get together with family and enjoy their company.  Sometimes we need to be reminded of this, so we remember to enjoy the time spent together.  Even if you do not get along with some of your family members, times like these are perfect for making amends if possible.  Do you have any memories like this?  If so, I would love to hear them in the comments.  Overall, remember that Thanksgiving is more than just about eating but sharing a moment with those you love.  Happy Thanksgiving everybody and I hope your day is filled with food, family, and memories. 📖  Be sure to add S
