Life Advice Blog #14 - Happiness

If there is one statement that most everyone agrees with, it is that everybody wants to be happy. Happiness is the reason why we get out of bed in the morning.  Everything we do and every choice we make stems from the idea of achieving happiness. However, many people find it difficult to be happy without fully understanding why.  Most of the time, they themselves are the reason.  In order to achieve lifelong happiness, a person needs to understand themselves.  When they know who they are, they are able to think clearer about what they want to do in life, opening the doors to happiness.  Without knowing yourself personally, you open yourself up to struggle and false happiness.  You do not know what you want, and therefore the choices you make come from the desire to find meaning.  The two best ways to find yourself and achieve lifelong happiness is through soul searching and love.  If done correctly, a person will find happiness wherever they go, because they know where to look.

The meaning of soul searching is actively looking for the truth about oneself.  People will often ask themselves questions regarding their motives, thoughts, feelings, and reasoning for being who they are.  They are actively trying to learn more about themselves and what makes up their personality.  Truthfully, this is one of the best ways to obtain happiness in life, because you are trying to learn more about yourself, your journey thus far, and where you want to go.  By doing so, you are able to better understand what you want in life, ultimately leading you down the path towards lifelong happiness.  People soul search through various means, such as meditation, education, travel, etc.  The more experiences had, the easier it is to understand oneself.  This is why soul searching is considered a lifelong activity. The world is filled with infinite experiences that would bring you happiness and meaning.  The only obstacle in the way is yourself.  Wise men and women will always try new things, because they know that the more they do, the happier they will be, and the better they will understand their soul.  Do as much as you can in life and find the meaning to your existence.

Love is a feeling that people actively search for, but do not realize it is staring them right in the face.  The truth is, you need to love yourself to achieve lifelong happiness.  Ask yourself this, have you ever thought about saying “I love you” to yourself?  It may sound cheesy, but say it every day and see how different you feel.  We often do not give ourselves enough credit for our personal growth, achievements, or hard work.  This is why it is so difficult for people to find love.  People who do not love themselves often love the wrong things. Their own insecurities follow them in their relationships, because they are searching for comfort outside of themselves.  This can often lead to an abundance of toxicity in a person’s life.  When you love yourself, you are confident in who you are and know what you want.  So, when you search for love, you have your own standard to live up to, which means your relationships will be more meaningful, you will feel secure, and you will be happier than you ever have been before.  Take the first step and love you for you.  Be sure to thank yourself later.

Happiness is the key to a fulfilled life.  If you follow these steps, chances are that you will feel more content with your life.  Finding yourself is the key to happiness and to success.  Having the confidence to be who you are allows yourself to become the person you have always wanted to be.

Money Isn’t Everything      Wouldn’t it be nice if tomorrow, you won the lottery?   The sheer joy you’d feel would probably be something you’ve never experienced before.   What would you do with the money: buy a house, go on an exotic vacation, quit your job?   When this type of pleasure flows over you, the possibilities feel endless.   No matter what you do, being financially free would make you happy, at least for a while.   Eventually, you would want something more than just financial freedom.   Having money is great, but what ...

The Meaning of Thanksgiving - a Few Words to Remember

Tonight's blog will be shorter than usual due to Thanksgiving, but I still wanted to leave you guys with a few things to remember.  Thanksgiving, or any holiday for that matter, is about family, friends, and making memories, wouldn't you agree?  Personally, I love being able to see my extended family, even if it's for a short while.  The holiday season is, to some, the only time they are able to get together with family and enjoy their company.  Sometimes we need to be reminded of this, so we remember to enjoy the time spent together.  Even if you do not get along with some of your family members, times like these are perfect for making amends if possible.  Do you have any memories like this?  If so, I would love to hear them in the comments.  Overall, remember that Thanksgiving is more than just about eating but sharing a moment with those you love.  Happy Thanksgiving everybody and I hope your day is filled with food, fa...

The Fear of Death & Its Irrationality

When our time comes, and we have lived our lives to the fullest, a new chapter begins.  That chapter is death, and often times we are afraid of it.  We are afraid of death not for what it is but for what it implies; the unknown, change and leaving our old lives behind.  Humans fear change and the unknown because we actively seek comfort, stability, and happiness.  These aspects have a chance of providing what we seek, but they can also cause pain, instability, and sadness.  We may end up feeling lost or unsure of what happens next.  When it comes to death, it is different from regular unknowing and change, because the only way to understand death is to experience it for ourselves.  We cannot imitate death nor can we truly understand what happens until it is our time to move on.  This, as well as the thought of leaving everything you have built behind, can make death even more frightening.  However, we should not fear death...
