Three Reasons Why You Should Not Rush in Life

Many people rush through life without even realizing.  There is so much more to life than trying to meet a deadline.  We need to be reminded from time to time the reasons why stopping to take a breath is so important.  There is much to appreciate.  Here are three reasons why you should not rush in life.
1. Life Is More Rewarding
We can seldom predict what life will throw at us despite our best efforts to do so.  Planning helps but life has a tendency to jerk us in multiple directions anyway.  People should plan, but nobody should try to rush through life expecting their desired outcome to become reality.  In fact, it would be better to let nature take its course and allow certain aspects to ensue naturally.  Some of the most rewarding occurrences transpire when least expected.  Relationships, for example, are something that people stress over for the fear of being alone.  Some of these people end up trying to force relationships to happen but very seldom does that workout.  Usually, the best relationships begin and flourish from a natural and/or unforeseen occurrence.  The point is, life is less stressful and more fun when people begin to relax, stop trying to plan everything, and stop trying to rush through life in the hopes of their expectations coming true.  A life off its leash tends to provide you with what you need rather than what you want.
2. Remembrance
When we rush, we forget.  When we forget, we miss out.  One of the biggest regrets people have is being too caught up in the past or future, never the present.  Life goes by quickly, and if we are not present in the moment, then it will likely pass us by.  Ask yourself, would you rather rush through life trying to shape the future or make memories?  Memories are what we strive for, after all.  We want to be able to remember the good times had with our family, friends, and ourselves.  So, every now and then take a moment to be in the moment.  You will thank yourself in the future when reminiscing on good times had.
3. Aids in Releasing Unnecessary Stress
Rushing causes stress which has a track record of consistently inhibiting life performance.  We essentially cripple ourselves by overworking our minds and bodies, sacrificing quality for the sake of getting things done.  The truth is, rushing is a choice, not an absolute.  We have the ability to take our time, plan accordingly, and succeed at a later date.  The problem is people often believe they need to rush in order to succeed in certain situations.  We often expect to reach success faster as a result, but that does not usually happen.  Instead, we get overworked and slow down, feeling disappointed in ourselves because we essentially gave up.  We then repeat the process in a never-ending cycle.  This is both stressful and unnecessary.  We can succeed without having to rush.  In fact, it is not only beneficial for our health to take our time, but it also means we will be more focused on the quality of our success.  Overall, do yourself a favor and relax, stop worrying, and take your time.

The Importance of Giving PT.2 - the Dos and Don'Ts

Should we expect to be praised for our deeds or to receive nothing in return?  Does ego play a role in generosity or is humbleness a necessary mindset?  A year ago, we talked about the importance of giving and how beneficial it is to both the giver and the receiver (Link here if interested:  https://scanlonblogs.blogspot.com/2018/11/blog-8-giving.html ).  We also talked about how happiness comes from giving and helping others and how material wealth only goes so far.  What we did not discuss is what we should anticipate and the proper way to behave throughout the process.  The art of giving involves understanding the dos and don'ts based on the situation at hand.  Not every instance of generosity will include the same factors as the previous one.      Do you believe kindness should be met with a reward?  I personally believe it depends on the situation, but we should never expect to be rewarded.  If you give money to a homeless man, your act of kindness may not lead to anyt

Three Life-Long Lessons to Remember #2

Do you need a reminder of what is important in life?  How about the proper way to handle a situation when feeling angry or stressed?  If so, you have come to the right place.  If you know these bits of information already, just remember its important to be reminded every now and again.  So, without further adieu, here are three life-long lessons to remember #2. 1. Money Isn’t Everything      Wouldn’t it be nice if tomorrow, you won the lottery?   The sheer joy you’d feel would probably be something you’ve never experienced before.   What would you do with the money: buy a house, go on an exotic vacation, quit your job?   When this type of pleasure flows over you, the possibilities feel endless.   No matter what you do, being financially free would make you happy, at least for a while.   Eventually, you would want something more than just financial freedom.   Having money is great, but what are you going to do with your money and newly acquired spare time?      We need

How Fate and Personality Intertwine

We are born with a unique personality which is then shaped by the environment we grow up in, but how does this play a role in what we call fate?  Our personalities determine our likes, dislikes, thoughts, opinions, and the choices we make throughout our lives.  We consider fate to be events beyond our control.  We often believe what transpires from these events is supposed to happen without our knowledge and are determined by the universe.  However, I believe our unique personalities intertwine with fate.  Our personalities shape us into who we are and determine how we handle life events.  Fate, in my opinion, is the initial event that we cannot control.  What happens afterward is determined by our personality and the paths we choose to walk.      What if a nuclear apocalypse decimated the world today and you were one of the survivors?  How would you deal with the aftermath, and would you consider these choices fate?  Based on my view, the event itself, the dropping of the bo
